Hello everyone! or should I say ‘hallo iedereen’ :D

My name is Bruno Costa. I am living in Nederweert, in the region of Limburg. I work in software development. My hobbies are: listening to music (I would love to have some music discussions with you! and if you also play instruments, feel free to reach out when you are looking for someone to play music with as well), coding, reading, writing, learning languages (currently learning Dutch), cycling, going out for walks, playing board games, talking to people, being creative, and much more stuff I enjoy doing.

I am new in the Netherlands, so I would be really happy to talk to you all and make some great friendships! :)

Feel free to reply to this post or send me a dm if you would be happy to make a new friend too :)

ps: I am down to having a drink with any of you and talk, if you are in the Limburg region too or if you would like to meet somewhere and have a great time :)

I look forward to hearing from you :)

Bruno

Hey Bruno,

Do you like it if we talk Dutch to you or English?

How long do you live in the Netherlands and from which country do you come before you was in the Netherlands?

What kind of music do you like?

Eyyy Brunononono welcome to the Netherlands! I am a software engineer just like you so nice to meet ya! Furthermore, how's Limburg working out for ya? Enjoying yourself? Saturday at 11:11 Carnaval should start over there just like here. Will you dare to go out during Carnaval haha it's merely celebrated in the south of the Netherlands and certain parts of Belgium and Germany. Over here in West Brabant it's gonna be wildddd. Last but not least, make sure to have some kind of costume before you decide to join in. People will definitely give you weird looks if you come in without costume hahaha

Hoi Vera, it’s nice to hear from you! I think it would be best if the communication would be first in English and slowly communicate more in Dutch, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming at first.

I have been living in the Netherlands for almost 3 months now and I come from Portugal.

I would say that my musical taste has Kings of Convenience as my main favourite band. Then I enjoy a lot of bands and artists like Paul Simon & Garfunkel, Ane Brun, Traveling John, Passion Pit, Capital Cities, Paradis, St. Lucia, Passenger. I am also very drawn to music in other languages such as Dutch (currently listening to an indie band called Spinvis), Swedish (Henning, Bo Kaspers Orkester, Sarah Zacharias, Benjamin Ingrosso - very 80s vibe), Norwegian (Lyse Netter - very 80s vibe as well). But I would say I listen to Kings of Convenience almost 90% of the time, so if you are a fan or don’t know them, I totally recommend and would love to share some of their music with you! :)

We can talk more in the private chat?

heyyyy! Thank you very much for the welcoming words!

That’s so cool to meet a software engineering mate! I believe we can relate in some of the struggles at work and the memes out there, right? hahah

Limburg is treating me well so far, thanks! It’s a beautiful side of the country, but since I am only here for a few months now, I still have lots to discover and explore, the Netherlands in general feels like a world inside the world itself haha, which is really exciting!

I am not celebrating Carnaval with a costume this year haha, but I am curious to see how it looks like around here with the celebrations! I don’t know where in West Brabant exactly you are from, but you guys there have fun with Carnaval!

I look forward to getting to know some really nice people here in this platform, so if you want to ever have a drink and discuss software stuff or anything, I’d be happy to join!

Hoi Bruno!

welcome to the community (and to the Netherlands aswell haha). I like your introduction.

Coincidentally, my friend always has music playing when we hang out and this morning I asked ‘hey what is that band you always have playing?’ And you can gues it: Kings of Convencience! So I’ve been listening to them all day! Currently Misread is on haha.

I think if you like them, you would also like Bear’s Den! I can recommend ‘Conversations with ghosts’.

I hope you’re having some nice conversations here on the community, if you like you can DM me aswell!

Welcome Bruno!

What a lovely introduction and good to see that you've found this community!

Do you ever walk by the canal? My work is to guide ships through the canals of Brabant and a small part of Limburg (Weert - Nederweert - Panheel). If you ever get stuck waiting in front of a bridge for the ship to pass by; it wasnt me! :see_no_evil:

Have you checked the groups on the community? There are groups based on regions (also Limburg has a group) and there are also group based on interests. You can find them here . There is even a Join Us Band group, I think that might be something for you, since you are into music!

Enjoy your stay in the Netherlands (and in this Community)!
